There’s a new band in Perth tearing up the music scene! The five-piece ensemble, dubbed King Blue, met in high school after their music teacher grouped them together for an assignment. The troupe hit it off instantly and have carried their passions for music beyond the school walls.

Now as young adults, King Blue is looking to the future with their eyes set on big goals. Breaming with talent, the bands' members include guitarists Daniel Clubb and Trent Knight, bass player Tobias Blane, drummer Craig Denn and lead vocalist Skye Sam. Together, the band has a unique and distinct sound, referring to their musical style as ‘psychedelic indie pop/rock’. This fusion of genres is the perfect musical cocktail guaranteed to entertain, please and thrill all who attend their shows and entice a boogie from all, including the anti-dancers in the crowd.

King Blue recently teamed up with Sam Ford at Tone City Recording and released their first, original single ‘Games’. Listen to it here. The track is laced in feel-good vibes with an explosive and toe-tapping tune, making it the perfect addition to any playlist.

May 22nd will see the official launch of this new track with a massive show at Jack Rabbit Slims! This is not a performance to be missed, with huge support acts including Dice, Mitch Santiago and Nectar. Be quick and get your tickets here before they’re all gone!

We sat down with the band to ask them some questions (how lucky are we?!)

Tell us, how are you feeling with this newfound success? ‘Games’ is literally taking off!

It’s all so surreal, and this is only just the beginning, there’s still so much more to come. We loved writing the song, we love performing the song, and we love that people love the song.

Who would you say are your biggest inspirations, musically?

We draw a lot of inspiration from Spacey Jane, Dear Sunday, Ocean Alley and Lime Cordiale.

What are your favourite covers to play?

Well that depends – our favourite song to cover vocally is ‘Tennessee Whiskey’, ‘Booster Seat’ is always a crowd-pleaser and it has a super fun riff, and of course, ‘Gimme Gimme Gimme’ will always be a favourite as it gets everybody moving and singing along with us.

When it comes to writing your songs, do you have a particular formula you follow?

We generally just get together and jam. We start with the music and find that the lyrics and ideas flow from there.

And lastly, the question we all want answers for, when can we expect more original music from you guys?

We have two brand spanking new tracks ready to hit the recording studio, as well as a few bangers from our current setlist. So you won’t have to wait too long!
