Hands up if you dream about throwing the lavish celebration of your dreams but lack the design skills - or more importantly, the organisation - to turn this into a reality. Thankfully, Beach&Boho is here to turn your next special occasion into a decadent, boho wonderland.

Meet Geraldton’s bell tent extraordinaires

Whether it’s a birthday, proposal, baby shower, engagement party, hens party, or you just feel like hosting a picnic or brunch for fun (because who needs an excuse?), Beach&Boho has got you covered, creating luxurious settings based around their bell tents.

Depending on your event, take your pick from Beach&Boho’s range of packages. If you’re a bride- or mother-to-be, the Earthy Mumma Package is just for you. How does relaxing with a four or five metre bell tent, low picnic tables, a vintage peacock chair, rugs, cushions, leather pouffes, and flowers sound? And because Beach&Boho is all about building upon your personal style, you can even choose between vibrant boho, neutral beachy boho, tropical, or rustic styling. It’s no surprise that this is Beach&Boho’s most popular option by far.

If you’re feeling particularly creative, there’s also a DIY option, meaning you can build your world from the Arabian rug up with Beach&Boho’s range of hire items.

Where did it all start?

Perth-born Tahnee Reynolds Hopkins is the creative behind Beach&Boho. She traces her love of hosting and event planning back to her university days.

“I loved having people around and was always having parties (sorry, mum and dad) to gather all different friend groups in one spot - not that these parties were elegantly styled, but more of a toga party and Passion Pop kind of thing!”

House parties gradually evolved into bridal showers and baby showers for friends, culminating in the hens and bridal shower of one of Tahnee’s best friends. Funnily enough, Tahnee, another bridesmaid, and the bride-to-be were all pregnant, meaning the celebrations had to be bump-friendly - this serendipitous event was all Tahnee needed to make Beach&Boho official.

Geraldton’s creative network

So where exactly does Tahnee find all these hidden gems that form the backbone of Beach&Boho? “We live on Gumtree! The amount of cool and unique stuff on there is amazing and I think this sometimes divides us from the rest. Not only is it cost effective, but we also believe in repurposing instead of creating junk.”

Tahnee also loves collaborating with other Geraldton creatives for her materials. “I think one of the coolest things is the amount of strong women in business that are popping up.” Some of Tahnee’s favourite Geraldton creatives include At The Flower Pot for native flowers, All Things Catering for grazers, Sweet Orange Productions for tiki bars, and Yard Bar for giant teepees

The highs and lows

According to Tahnee, one of the main benefits of running your own small business is the sense of achievement and the immediate feedback provided by social media. “I think we are lucky in this day and age with social media and constant feedback from your followers. It lets you know you are doing things right, and it can show you when you are doing things wrong!”

And the most challenging part? “The most challenging thing that I probably wasn’t expecting in the business game was the time. You think 9 to 5 is a tough gig, but owning your own business means it is almost a 24/7 job. If you don’t love it, you probably shouldn’t do it.”

What’s next?

October hailed Beach&Boho’s first birthday, so naturally, Tahnee celebrated in style, with a day of bell tents (obviously), music, yoga, granola, and henna, with funds being raised for The Breast Cancer Foundation. “Making it to one whole year is such an achievement. It has been a roller coaster; it must be an ex-athlete thing, but the emotional rollercoaster thing only drives me more.”

Birthday celebrations aside, Beach&Boho’s future is looking bright, with plans to expand to Perth.

“Next year, we’re planning to move to Perth to allow our family not only to grow within Beach&Boho, but within our own little tribe at home. I can’t wait to bring our bohemian style to Perth, but also can’t wait to continue to grow the business in Geraldton!”
