Before you start thinking about what to get or what to do for fathers day, remember that dad values spending time with you.

Sunday the 5th of September is fathers day, but luckily dads can be pretty cruisy.

If you haven't already got dad a hardware voucher or a framed photo of the family we are here to help sort you out. We have put together some top ideas for a present for dad, along with ideas for a day out on their special day.

Taking a last-minute swing

Is your dad a lover of golf? How about a day at the Wembley Golf Course, just west of the city. From a mini-golf course to a driving range, this will be the place to be on a nice September day.

If you’re not a fan of being out in the sun all day, Perth Golf Centre has taken golf to a whole new level, and it's inside. With virtual golf bays, you can play entire games of golf with friends and family indoors! Drinks and food are available throughout your time at the centre, and there’s no need to chase your ball out in the weather all day! Another bonus, the more people you bring, the cheaper it gets!

Give Dad the axe

This one is for all the country dads out there; an axe throwing experience with family and friends. With groups of up to 25 people, you could pull together a friendly family competition, or a casual throw with mates, whichever your dad prefers. With a privately allocated lane, and music of your choice, your dad could be throwing axes to the beat of Bruce Springsteen! On top of this, your group will receive a one-on-one training experience with an expert axe thrower, from each of the sizes of axes, to fun games and friendly comps! Located right next to the city in East Perth, it’s the perfect location to grab a meal or drink after your axe throwing experience.

Dad gets a grilling for his BBQ skills

Is your dad the chef of the house (or likes to think he is)? Well with Perth BBQ school just on Guildford Road, why not take him for a lesson or two? With classes on brisket, a charcoal barbecue, and a masterclass on seafood, your dad will be coming home with the skills to cook up a storm. To make this gift even better, the BBQ school has all kinds of gifts and hampers available for purchase so your dad can take his experience home with him!

Why not take the whole family and make a day of it? Then dad can say ‘throw another shrimp on the barbie’ and really mean it. Win win for everyone.

This gift will feel right at home

This one’s for the dads who love a day at home. With a google home device, your dad's experience at home will be loved even more. This small device can do a huge variety of things, including playing music via voice command, setting timers for his roast cooking in the oven, and can even do calculations for him when completing DIY projects! From sitting in his favourite lounge, your dad can ask the device questions and get instant answers, who wouldn’t want that! If dad changes his mind and wants to go out, the google home device can suggest many of his favourite places, or new restaurants to try. The google home device is the perfect gift for dads who prefer to spend their days off at home.

Record this gift as a hit

If your dad is a bit old school and has a record player, head down to your local record store if you're stuck on last minute gifts. Not only can you buy him one but make a day out of it, ask dad to come along with you and I’m sure there will be some nostalgic albums for the old man, alongside some new and popular music of today. You can find the ‘VInyl Cafe’ in Leederville which is a fully licensed cafe and record store so you treat dad out for coffee, lunch or even a whisky whilst browning the records they have on offer.  Introduce some records to your dad or let dad choose the record he would really love to get this fathers day.

Maxin' the relaxin'

If you want to treat dad with one of his favorite things, then Crown Perth has you covered!
Surprise dad with one of the many things Crown offers. This can range from their Sports Bar with sporting events broadcasted live or if you are feeling generous, a luxury staycation where dad can relax and enjoy being spoiled in the comfort of lavish lifestyle Crown offers.

Dad can enjoy various meal choices ranging from hightea to dinner at the Epicurean where he can taste some of the world's finest desserts.
If you are still stuck, Crown offers gift vouchers so dad can choose from an array of entertainment options in a first class environment.

Get ahead at Froth Town

Does dad like a good beer?

Well WA’s largest beer festival is a perfect way to spend father’s day this September with a weekend of pints and an array of events.

September the 4th - 6th at the Claremont Showgrounds  is where you’ll be able to find some of WA’s finest brews including Rocky Ridge, Beer Farm and Boston Brewing Co. The festival is offering an extensive range of activities for you and dad including a silent disco, Dad-bod wet tshirt competition and all the way to dodgem cars. Grab a beer or treat dad to some local food truck eats ranging from smoked meats to vegan or veggie options. Bring the whole family along on Saturday or just bring dad down for the Father’s Day Sunday event.

Get outside like Dad always told you to

Get adventurous and take dad outdoors on fathers day! If dad enjoys staying active and has a venturesome spirit, then you can't go wrong with some of Perth’s finest walk trails. Take dad to some of Perth’s finest hikes and treat him to lunch if you’re going to be out and about. It doesn't have to be a long walk, try the Baldwin's Bluff Trail, Serpentine National Park, and bring the whole family too. This trail offers great views of the Swan Coastal Plain along with the valley and the Serpentine Falls which can be enjoyed from the summit.

It's the thought that counts

Since everything is personalised these days why not grab dad a personalised Decanter Set is a groovy present dad would love if he likes a whisky or a spirit of choice.

A personalised cooking apron with a funny mash pictured college of your favorite pic of dad or even mum to wear when he's cooking up a BBQ or just around the house.
