There’s so much happening over the Christmas season, it's not a matter of what you’re going to spend your summer days and nights on, but which! We’ve put together a list of some of the biggest events to head to these holidays and the best part is that most are free as well. So tilt your Santa hat to a jaunty angle, round up your elves and head out on the town!

Alinta Energy Christmas Pageant

First up is the big one, the Christmas season in all its lights and colour at the annual Christmas Pageant in the CBD on December 7. The floats set off along St George’s Terrace at 7.30pm, starting from Williams Street, with the best viewing spot between Barrack Street and Irwin Street. Be sure to head along early to get your spot and set up your chairs, with road closures around the route kicking in from 5.30pm. Catch all the colour, costumes and fun as dozens of floats and marching groups pass by, and you might even catch a sight of jolly St Nick himself before he gets to work on Christmas night!

Christmas Lights Trail

Lighting up the CBD is always a highlight of the Christmas season with 27 different installations throughout the city to explore! There are three different trails to follow or make up your own as you seek out each of the insta-worthy hotspots. There will also be roving entertainment from 6pm to 9pm on Saturday nights at Forrest Chase, Rain Square, Kings Square and Perth Cultural Centre, as well as Christmas projections on St George’s Cathedral at Cathedral Square from 7:30pm. Whether you’re late night Christmas shopping, out with the family or out for a drink with your mates, where’s your first stop?

Kings Park Moonlight Cinema- Espresso Cocktail

What can possibly beat sitting out on the grass with friends for a balmy summer evening enjoying your silver screen favourites? Well cocktails obviously! Summer comes and the Moonlight Cinema in Kings Park is back, but this year includes a delicious addition. In partnership with Tia Maria, espresso cocktail pop-up bars have been added to the annual movie experience from November right through the holiday season to January next year! For a sweet and salty addition to your movie experience you can also grab a Tia Popcorn frappe. If you want to get your Christmas movie hit for the season, Home Alone, Love Actually, Die Hard (yes it's actually a Christmas movie), Last Christmas and Elf will all be featured on the massive screen!

Christmas Eve Party by the Beach

There are plenty of events to spend a chill night out this Christmas Season, but what if you’re looking for something with more of a pulse? You can head round to Coast Port Beach where Sydney DJ and house producer Colour Castle, alongside a number of local DJs, will be putting on the tunes from 3pm! Entry is free for you to enjoy a range of Christmas cocktails and rockin’ tunes as the sun sets over the ocean for Christmas Eve!

Brass on the Grass

Nothing makes the yule season brighter than classic carols played with shining brass! Victoria Gardens in East Perth will ring with the seasonal sounds on December 11 with the East Perth Community Group Inc’s Brass on the Grass concert featuring Wonderful With Wine, The Australian Girls’ Choir and the City of Perth Band for a brilliant night for the whole family. Set yourself up with a picnic, chairs and a glass of wine to make for the perfect balmy summer seasonal evening!

Festive Flicks in Northbridge Piazza

Get the holidays feels in the heart of the CBD with classic Christmas flicks on the big screen! The range of films has already kicked off with a new holiday favourite shown every Saturday until Christmas. Still to come are Rise of the Guardians, Elf and The Grinch so you can still enjoy the classics while having a night out on the town.

Supreme Court Gardens Christmas Carnivals

Get the family down to the Supreme Court Gardens, with this season packed with carnivals over the four weekends in the lead up to Christmas Day! Amusement rides, bouncy inflatable fun, Christmas movies, a silent disco, mini golf and giant games galore. Even Santa himself is taking time out of his Christmas prep to appear between 10am and noon each day of the carnivals. Book online to get up to four wristbands to participate in all the entertainment, activities and rides as you desire.
