There’s no better way to wave off the year gone by than by heralding in the best of Perth’s summer season. Everything from music festivals to quirky pop-ups, this year we’re spoilt for choice for New Year’s Eve. With events taking place across the city (and a little beyond) that cater to a number of different budgets, here are some of our favourites.

Rottnest NYE

4pm onwards

Want to escape the city but don’t want to venture too far? No problem! Rottnest will be hosting a spectacular fireworks display over Thomson Bay.

A family friendly affair, Rottnest promises to host loads of free entertainment and live music before the show begins at 9pm. But the festivities don’t end there. Various venues around the Island will be hosting NYE parties of their own which will have you kicking on until the early hours of 2018.

The best bit of all? You can nurse that hangover by one of the many beaches on the island. Not a bad way to ring in the New Year, am I right?

Free event.

Coast

From 6pm

Witness the final sunset of the year overlooking the Indian ocean, cocktail in hand, at Coast’s seaside soiree. Guests in before 8pm receive a complimentary glass of Laurent Perrier Champagne and light canapes, giving you all the more reason to start the festivities early.

Adult First Release tickets $27.13

Bar Pop NYE at The Ice-Cream Factory

From 7pm

There’s no denying that The Ice-Cream Factory has fast become the go-to for entertainment this summer. Following a huge sold out event last year, Bar Pop is set to be bigger and better than ever at this new hotspot.

Dubbed Perth’s ‘new summer micro-festival’, the event will feature eight dancefloors, 11 bars, a bowling alley, a silent disco, drag queen karaoke, pop ups from some of Perth’s best bars and clubs, and much, MUCH more.

To keep you fuelled for the evening, there will be coconut meat tacos, a Flipside Burger Bar and UberEATS delivery direct from your favourite eateries across Perth.

Tickets range from $50-$150.

The Dock Fremantle

If the combination of booze, boats, and cheese boards sounds like a pretty sweet way to welcome the New Year, you won’t want to miss The Dock NYE.

Here for a limited time only, this summer Pop-Up Wharf Bar will be set on the water’s edge, overlooking the iconic Fremantle port. It will feature a fully themed bar, with Beer by Pirate Life Brewing, cocktails and frosé on tap, and an impressive wine and spirits list to go alongside gourmet cheese boards and pizza. For entertainment, there will be live music, DJs and exceptional waterfront views.

Non-ticketed event.

Badlands Bar NYE COVFEFE

From 6pm

Courtesy of Facebook

In reflection of the bizarre turn of events that 2017 has churned out (Trump’s election, the upcoming Royal Wedding 2.0, sexual assault allegations galore plus the legalisation of gay marriage), Badlands Bar has dubbed their NYE bash Covfefe, a word that ‘defines the indefinable and makes sense of the ridiculous’. What better way to bid adieu to a crazy year?

Featuring two stages, the best Covfefe yet will feature some of WA’s favourite local acts, with headliners being The Love Junkies and Hideous Sun Demon.

There will also be a food truck, $5 Exports, free popcorn and some DJs (to be announced)

General admission tickets $39

Foreshore NYE

From 7pm

Whether you’re a foodie, have a penchant for iconic Perth views or love local talent, Foreshore NYE is for you! Gracing the riverfront of Riverside Drive, the event will be so #ontrend with a selection of delicious food trucks, boutique cocktail bars and a drink’s list showcasing Perth’s thriving small bar scene, as well as WA’s leading wineries, breweries and ciders. A main outdoor stage will feature local bands and DJs, an acoustic VIP stage, 3-channel silent disco and roving performers.

Ticket types include General Admission at $39.80, The Garden VIP at $159.80 or The Deck VIP at $229.80.

For those of you who just plan to keep New Years Eve more of a relaxed affair, that doesn’t mean you can’t go hard and kick off celebrations on New Year’s Day instead. Here are two events we have our eyes on:

Marquee

From 2pm

Courtesy of Facebook

Back for its 10th Birthday in 2018, Professional Conduct will be presenting Marquee at the South Perth Yacht Club. Sitting on the edge of the stunning Swan River, with premier cocktails, beers and wine aplenty, this event oozes class every year. You’d be hard pressed to think of a better way to start the New Year than relaxing on daybeds or partying it up in one of the multiple indoor bars.

Tickets $285

Cuban Club

From 1:30pm

Courtesy of OKMediaGroup

The Perth Flying Squadron Yacht Club is set to transform into a scene reminiscent of Venice Beach with a touch of Hollywood Glam on the first day of 2018. DJ royalty 2manydjs will be headlining the event and Perth food faves La Cholita, Pleased to Meet You, Pinchos and Sweet Lips will be serving up tasty nosh to go along with the finest selection of beer, wine, cider and spirits all day. If rubbing shoulders and dancing with Perth A-listers in an amazing location sounds too good to be true, Cuban Club is the place to be on New Years Day.

Tickets $279.90
